I’ve been searching for a long time for a solution that stops the tiniest bit of daylight coming through. My husband is up as soon as the sun rises, so you can imagine that’s pretty early in the summer. I’ve tried curtains, blackout blinds, both together, nothing worked.Getting fed up I searched online and came across American Shutters. Called, spoke to a really helpful Linda who knew their products inside & out.The same day Tom came with samples, measured and gave me a quote. The difference from anything else I’ve researched is the blackout blind sits in a channel behind the shutter.Gary who fitted the blinds was very professional, our windows aren’t straight but Gary made sure they fit perfectly and you wouldn’t know the window is wonky as Gary had everything with him to make the blinds/shutters fit flush.I’ve attached photos, (large window I’ve shown without blackout blind down, and with it down) I think they speak for themselves. I truly have no words the difference they make. The bedroom is total darkness, and yes husbands sleeps. He opened them only this morning with a big smile on his face.

I love my new shutters! Superb service from all at American Shutters. My initial call led to an email with an estimate based on my measuring. The detailed measuring I requested was swift and I received advice on types, colours and slat sizes. Quote (close to estimate) arrived the next day. The installation went very smoothly and the installer was brilliant. Such attention to detail and a tidy worker too. Stunning results - I wish I’d had them years ago. (And, between being measured and me booking, I was left to decide - unlike another company who bombarded with emails, calls and text messages.)

We were incredibly impressed with American shutters from start to finish. We phoned and spoke to Linda who booked us in for a quote.Linda was lovely and very honest and answered all my questions happily. I spoke to Linda a couple of times throughout the process and nothing was ever too much trouble. Tom came over to quote and he explained everything and all our options in a lovely manner which wasn’t pushy and not a typical sales pitch. We had got 7 quotes in total and American shutters were in the middle, price wise, but their customer service was by far the best of them all. Once the shutters had arrived they got us booked in for installation straight away. Roberto installed the shutters and we are so so happy with them. Roberto was so clean and tidy and the finish is extremely professional. He even offered to help me move all my lounge furniture back after I had to move it all for a carpet fitter.We would definitely recommend this company, we can’t fault their service at all! We will be using them again in the future.

We have just had our final shutters fitted in our lounge, which now completes our whole house. We first had contact with Tom of American Shutters 14 years ago when we moved in and have gradually had each room fitted with shutters. I think the fact that we have returned to the same company during this time speaks for itself. Tom, himself, is very efficient, reliable, offers excellent advise and really takes an interest in what ideas you have. He is in no way pushy, he offers a very personal service and it has been such a pleasure dealing with him and his staff. Customer service at American Shutters has been flawless. Every communication has been politely dealt with and quickly. I have been kept updated and informed from my initial enquiry through to installation and after care. Tom was patient with us, including several trips to view examples, as we decided on the right style and helped with all my questions. The fitters we had were polite, friendly and tidy. We did have an issue with our shutters after fitting and you can tell the quality of a company by the way they handle this. We recently received our bespoke shutters. Which looks amazing and completes our room. Making our family and reception room look cosy.Also, not as expensive as I thought, which is always a bonus!!They adhered to COVID-19 advice, wearing face masks, stating they have had no symptoms recently (alternatively, asking if we are symptom free) - good call.We were kept up-to-date regarding our purchase. Because of COVID-19, our products took a bit longer, about 2 weeks.Once our Shutters had arrived, they contacted us straight away to organise an installation date within days.Our installation guy was professional and very skilled. I didn’t realise it would take a day to install, but being bespoke they needed to match to your windows.After just having our extension done, everywhere had mastic. The installation guy also put mastic around the shutters.Would definitely recommend in price, customer service and installation.

American Shutters have done the most amazing job of making and fitting two sets of window shutters for us. The whole experience was a pleasure from the very helpful office staff to the charming man who measured up and then the very courteous fitter. I would have no hesitation in recommending. A really 5* service and product. There is an excellent choice of shutter styles and colours and we were kept informed throughout the order process of how long it would take for our shutters to arrive. Roberto arrived punctually on the agreed day and did a very professional job fitting the shutters. We are absolutely delighted with the result which gives both shade and privacy. They finish off the room perfectly and look as though they will last forever!

I have used American Shutters several times now at different properties and have always been very impressed with the friendly but totally professional service provided. Excellent advice at first visit and most importantly the finished result has always been perfect. The last project was a tricky one with an awkwardly shaped window but the shutters look fabulous and as if they were built into the original opening.

American Shutters is the continuation of a company I first started using in 1992. While the owners have changed the ethos, professionalism and attention to detail has not.
