What types of shutters do you offer?

At American Shutters we craft premium made-to-measure interior shutters from the finest hardwood materials, to work perfectly in all rooms (including shower / bathroom / kitchen areas). We offer the most comprehensive range of shutters available including full-height, tier-on-tier, café‑style, bay and bow window panels, shaped-arch shutters, French‑door treatments, tracked and folding systems—each made to measure for a precise and stylish fit

Are they made from real wood?

Yes, all our wood shutters are solid timber, including frames, louvre blades, and shutter panels. We offer four different solid wood varieties to suit every budget. For wet areas we also offer a high quality UPVC option.

Can I choose the colour and finish?

Absolutely. We offer painted finishes (including classic white), stains to emphasise the wood’s beauty, driftwood washes, and special waterproof coatings ideal for bathrooms and kitchens. Additionally, we are also able to match to your chosen paint manufacturer’s colour palette.

Will your shutters fit unusual or shaped windows?
Yes. We can manufacture shutters for rectangular, bay, bow, sash, arched, circular windows, French and sliding doors—fully tailored to match any shape
Are they suitable for bathrooms and kitchens?
Yes. Our water-resistant finishes are ideal for high-moisture areas like bathrooms and kitchens.

Measuring & Installation

Do you offer a free measurement service?
Yes, we offer a free, no-obligation home survey. We’ll measure your windows and provide expert advice on the best shutter style for your space.
Who installs the shutters?

All installations are carried out by our experienced, in-house team – no subcontractors. We
ensure a professional and tidy job every time, including removing and sustainably disposing of all packaging.

How long does installation take?

Typically just a few hours per window, depending on the number of shutters and any special features. A clear time estimate will be provided during your free survey. 1-2 days is usually sufficient.

Will there be disruption or mess?

No. We pride ourselves on working tidily, taking care to minimise disruption and leaving your home clean when we finish. This includes removal and sustainably disposing of shutter packaging

Order & Delivery

How long does it take to get my shutters?

Once you have approved the design, manufacture typically takes 10-12 weeks. For urgent orders manufactured at our UK factory 4-6 weeks is possible. We’ll then arrange a convenient installation date.

Can I change my order after placing it?

Prior to placing your order there is plenty of opportunity to discuss your shutter design requirements. Once you are completely happy with your design your order will be placed. After manufacture begins (usually within a couple of days of confirmation), changes may not be possible. 

Pricing & Payment

How much do wooden shutters cost?

Pricing depends on window size, chosen style and hardwood material type, and finish. We provide a full quote after your free home survey – no hidden charges. American shutters offer a full range to suit most budgets.

Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A deposit is required to confirm your order, with the remaining balance due on or just
before installation.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept debit/credit cards, bank transfers, and select finance options (ask us for details).
Are your quotes fixed, or could the price change?

Our quotes are fixed once issued. What you see is what you pay – no hidden extras. As a privately owned local business our business overheads are less than the large national shutter providers. This means our prices should be fair and competitive. For your peace of mind we also offer a price match promise.

Maintenance and Warranty

How do I clean and maintain the shutters?
Our shutters are easy to maintain. A soft cloth or duster is usually enough. For deeper
cleaning, use a damp cloth—avoid harsh chemicals.
Do your shutters come with a warranty?

Yes. Our shutters are backed by a 5-10 year guarantee (depending on range chosen) covering manufacturing faults and workmanship to give you peace of mind.
